Spraoi Studios are home to the award wining company. Each year the studios produce and assist small and large scale productions that entertain audiences at home and abroad. They consist of workshops, prop-making rooms, costume rooms, rehearsal spaces, other artists support areas, and lawns for outdoor rehearsals. They are also home to rabbits, foxes, and other wildlife.
Opened in 2003 Spraoi Studios are Ireland’s only purpose-built street performance and spectacle creation centre. Spraoi’s resident creative team are Waterford artists who create the Spraoi Festival Parade and an array of large scale productions for other Irish festivals and events. A Spraoi show also performed in Wales for the first time this year.
Other artists from all over Ireland avail of residencies at Spraoi Studios to devise, shape, construct, and rehearse exciting new shows for performance on Irish streets and on streets throughout Europe. In 2026 Spraoi Studios hosted Colm O’Grady creating his new show ‘Fountain of Joy’, Fanzini Productions rehearsed and trialled ‘Risky Business’, and Matt Szczerek/Kundle Cru used a Spraoi residency to develop ‘Dead Men Tell No Tales’. All these artists are based in other Irish centres spread from Cavan to Cork.
