Street Arts
Spraoi launches late afternoon Friday with the focus firmly on Irish street arts.
Spraoi’s policy, over the last number of years, of supporting and developing new Irish work, through the NEST initiative, and the emphasis on presenting Irish premieres at Spraoi has helped to assist the burgeoning of the street arts sector in Ireland. This year Spraoi sees no less than four Irish companies present work at the festival, as well as the artists presenting developing work on the NEST Stage.
Two previous NEST participants, Henrik Gard and Severine de Maleingreau, return to perform with their new companies, Síolta Circus and Feathers Ensemble, while The Fanzinis return with a brand new show, “Spailp”, and Curious State present a new take on their show “Morbid and Sons”.
The NEST Stage, which runs on Friday and Saturday evenings, showcases work from Laura Ivers and Human Collective, and this year has a particular focus on dance.
