KiBoDaiko – Taiko Drummers
KiBoDaiko Taiko Drummers have played together for fifteen years. Ki means bundle of energy, Bo means the stick, and Daiko means this type of Japanese drumming. All the players in the group are students at the Taiko Dojo Monika Volmer school in Hemer, Germany.
They enjoy playing Japanese Taiko drumming together with passion. They frequently play at celebrations, festivals, and public events. The group’s concert series is the legend of Amaterasu the Sun Goddess of Japan, a millennia-old legend from the land of the rising sun.
Their debut performance at Spraoi Festival arose from the twinning between Waterford City & County Council and Märkischer Kreis who have been twinned since April 2023.
The Taiko drummers come from Märkischer Kreis in Germany. The aim of this twinning is the exchange with various groups from e.g. culture, sports, clubs etc.
After Märkischer Kreis was already represented at the food festival in Dungarvan this year, participation in the Spraoi festival is the second collaboration between the two counties.
