Beach Barrage

IRISH PREMIERE
Édaein Samuels from Cork, and Peter Moran from Dublin, are the newly formed acro-duo, Those Two Idiots. They have been in the circus for a combined amount of 23 years, practising various disciplines. Peter is a juggler and balancer extraordinaire, while Édaein flies, spins and slides. They pair acrobatics and clownish behaviour and that’s where their two worlds – sometimes quite literally – collide. They had been bumping into each other at circus festivals for years and finally put their heads together to dream up this beach-themed act. In September 2022 they wowed crowds with a 10-minute version of Beach Barrage as part of the Pitch’d Street Festival, Cork.
Two idiots arrive at the beach. Both have their own perfect day in mind but their ideas of the ideal beach trip couldn’t be more different. What could possibly go wrong? Watch these two personalities clash, tempers flash and petty pranks spin out of control. The two are left without words, only action! It’s acrobatic anarchy when they literally climb over, under and around each other to gain the upper hand. This family-friendly fiasco will have you cheering, screaming and laughing at these bonkers beach buffoons.
Those Two Idiots were selected by Spraoi to receive a NEST bursary in 2023, and one of six artists and companies from Ireland and the UK to receive a ‘Four Nations Outdoor Arts Bursary’ to create this new performance. The 2023 Four Nations project started with a four-day residency in rural Argyll, Scotland in January 2023, where the chosen artists got to network and develop their creative ideas with guidance from leading mentors and the festival programmers.
The Four Nations Outdoor Arts Bursaries 2023 are supported by the Arts Council of Ireland, the Arts Council of Wales, Creative Scotland, Articulation, and Outdoor Arts UK.
